THE
TRIBES HINDUKUSH
NALTAR ISHKOMEN TREK
The Ishkomen valley divides the Hindu Raj, Hindukush and Karakoram
ranges; consequently, trekking in this area allows to see three
types of geologically distinct ranges. The trek begins with a
short Jeep ride to the beautiful alpine valley of Naltar. This
valley has an air force ski training center, which is surrounded
by flower bedecked alpine pastures, and thick pine trees. After
exploring the village, trek to Naltar Lake, whose crystalclear
waters mirror the surrounding peaks. After spending a free day
trek to Shani where passing many Gujar settlements, and meeting
the herdsmen tending their goats and yaks. Cross Naltar pass (4200m)
to Trang. Where with its beautiful views of three mountain ranges
and countless 6000m to 7000m peaks. The gradual descent from Trang
to Chatorkhand in Ishkomen leads to the traditional village of
the famous religious figure (Pir sahib). If possible you may be
able to talk with the Pir sahib. From Chatorkhand, jeep backs
to Gilgit.

DAY 1: Depart from
home to Pakistan.
DAY 2: Arrive at Islamabad.
DAY 3: Drive to Besham.
DAY 4: Drive to Gilgit.
DAY 5: Drive to Naltar.
DAY 6: Trek to Naltar.
DAY 7: Free day at Naltar lake.
DAY 8: Trek to Shani.
DAY 9: A strenuous days trek.
DAY 10: Trek to Chatorkhand.
DAY 11: Return to Gilgit by jeep.
DAY 12: Drive Karimabad.
DAY 13: At leisure.
DAY 14: Drive to Chillas.
DAY 15: Drive to Rawalpindi.
DAY 16: Destination flight.
